She wishes to maintain ties with her needy father, but her husband objects

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 10549 )
Q 1: My father is an old man who does not work and is ill. I thought about sending him a sum of money every month, but I did not inform my husband because he does not want that. I told him: “It is from my money, so I have the right to dispose of it as I wish,” and I decided to send some of it to my father. Is this action considered disobedience to the husband, or do I have the right to help my father as long as I am working?
A 1: Sending a sum of your money to your elderly father is part of being kind to him and dutiful to him, especially if he is in need. Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) has commanded kindness to the parents, saying:
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatmentوَقَضَى رَبُّكَ أَلا تَعْبُدُوا إِلا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا
[Al-Isra 17:23]
Your husband has no right to prevent you from maintaining ties with your father from your money, and there is no obedience to him in preventing you from being dutiful to him.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
