Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 13167 )
Q 1: If a woman meets her father, her mother, and her husband, whom should she show kindness to first?
A 1: The scriptural evidence indicates the obligation of being dutiful to parents and treating them with kindness, especially when they are old. Allah the Exalted said:
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatmentوَقَضَى رَبُّكَ أَلا تَعْبُدُوا إِلا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا
[Al-Isra 17:23]
It is also established that a man said: O Messenger of Allah:
Who among people has the most right to my good companionship? He said, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him: Your mother. He said: Then who? He said: Your mother. He said: Then who? He said: Your mother. He said: Then who? He said: Your father.من أحق النـاس بحسن صحابتي؟ قـال صلى الله عليه وسلم: أمك. قال: ثم من؟ قال: أمك قال: ثم من؟ قال: أمك. قال: ثم من؟ قال: أبوك
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 18:98
. Therefore, the woman should show kindness to her mother first, then to her father, and she should obey her husband in what is right and treat him with good conduct. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
