The second and third questions of Fatwa No. ( 10274 )
Q 2: Does a man who pays a mahr greater than the blood money for a female have the right to prevent his wife from visiting her father? And if he pays more than the blood money, is it permissible for her to uncover herself in front of her father? Is this evidence valid or not?
A 2: It is not permissible for a man to prevent his wife from visiting her parents, even if her mahr were a quintal of gold; because dutifulness to parents is a right among the obligatory rights in the Shari'ah. Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Isra 17:23]
