Fatwa number ( 12892 )
Q: I wish to ask Your Eminence a question regarding a matter between me and my father: He asked me for a sum of money when I went to Egypt from Saudi Arabia . He wants to use this money to smoke hashish and narcotics and to commit fornication with them. I have a family: my mother and three sisters, and I am responsible for them. He has abandoned them for fourteen years, does not provide for them, and is married to another woman. Is it permissible for me to help him with a sum of money while he is in this state? His other wife is employed and covers the household expenses. He filed a complaint against me in Egypt and took five hundred pounds without my consent. After I returned from Egypt , he sent me the letter attached to this question. Please advise us, may Allah reward you with all good. Should I pay him the amount he wants, or should I refuse given these circumstances? I tell him that for such actions, I will not give you any amount. Do I bear any sin when I do not give him the money for such actions he commits, and I am disobedient to him in such matters?
A: If the matter is as described, it is not permissible for you to pay him any money if he uses it as mentioned in the question. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
