The first question of Fatwa No. ( 14721 )
Q1: I am an employee in the military sector, and I have an income (salary), praise be to Allah. My father is still alive. Before my marriage, I used to give them my entire salary, and I was left with only 500 riyals. I proposed to a girl I wanted to marry, and that was done, praise be to Allah. Now I have a son from her who is two years old. My father did not help me with anything material regarding my marriage. I have fallen into many debts, and I am still paying them off. My father married another wife from Egypt, and she is trying to make him burden me with debts and take my salary and my wife’s salary. He demands a sum that he imposes on me and my wife, and he tries to borrow money, saying his son will pay it back. If I refuse, he threatens us that he will sell from his farms, and he constantly repeats this statement. He also says: “The son and what he owns belong to his father.” Now I am married and responsible
for a family, a rented house, and family expenses. Since my wife is a teacher and does not agree to helping the father, and now I want to buy a piece of land and a car for myself, and secure my children’s future through lawful means, and obedience to parents is known by everyone... never forget it... but how should I deal with my father? Should I give him what he wants to impose on me? I know that he does not spend it on debts, nor on my mother and her children, but he sends it to Egypt .
A1: It is obligatory for you to be dutiful to your parents and to treat them well in word and deed according to your ability, in accordance with the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic:[Al-Isra 17:23] And if you are unable to provide the help your father requests, be gentle with him, apologize to him, and make du'a for him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment
