Treatment of choking during sleep
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 18452 )
Q 6: It often happens that while I am sleeping, I feel as if I am choking or that someone is pressing on my breath. Is this due to the multitude of my sins, or is it Satan? This does not go away except after saying the takbir and reciting Ayat al-Kursi and the Mu'awwidhat.
A 6: This may be from Satan, or it may be due to an illness, for it is known among doctors that a sleeping person may experience this. We advise you in all cases to recite the adhkar in general, and the adhkar of sleep in particular, for they are a fortress against Satan and benefit their reciter by the permission of Allah the Exalted. Among these is reciting Ayat al-Kursi when going to sleep, and reciting:[Al-Ikhlas 112:1] and [Al-Falaq 113:1] and [An-Nas 114:1] three times when going to sleep; for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do so.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
