The Remedy for Satan’s Manipulation of the Servant

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 16685 )
Q 1: I am a young man who suffers greatly from a condition. When I go to sleep, I feel something taking control of me, so I cannot move or speak, and I become in a pitiable state. I feel pain in my heart and hear sounds like the waves of the sea, screaming, and strange sounds. Sometimes I feel this thing, and it stays with me for a while until it releases me. Then I go to another room, but it returns to me again until the dawn breaks. In the morning and for the rest of the day until sleep, the situation is very normal. I am confused about my situation and do not know what to do, even though I recite the Qur'an, the protective supplications, and Ayat al-Kursi to myself during this
state, but without any benefit. O Noble Shaykh, I ask you by Allah to hasten your response and tell me what you advise me to do?

A 1: We ask Allah for healing and well-being for us and for you from every illness and disease. May Allah bless you, and do not make yourself a target for intrusive thoughts, whispers, and illusions, for all of this is Satan’s manipulation of the servant. Resisting this is done through strong certainty and faith in Allah the Exalted, sincere determination, and consistency in the remembrance of Allah, reciting the Noble Qur'an, and maintaining the morning and evening supplications and dhikr. Among the most specific of these is reciting Ayat al-Kursi when going to sleep, for it is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)
That whoever recites it when going to sleep, a protector from Allah remains with him, and no Satan approaches him until he becomes morningأن من قرأها عند النوم لا يزال معه من الله حافظ، ولا يقربه شيطان حتى يصبح
. It is also prescribed for you to recite when going to sleep Surat
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
[Al-Ikhlas 112:1]
, Surat
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreakقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ
[Al-Falaq 113:1]
, and Surat
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ
[An-Nas 114:1]
, and to repeat these three three times when going to sleep, and after the Fajr prayer and the Maghrib prayer after the prescribed dhikr. It is also prescribed for you when going to sleep to say: “I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created” three times, and “In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing on earth or in the sky can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing” three times. Be glad of good and safety in this if you are sincere in it and strive against the enemy of Allah, Satan, with strong faith, sincerity, trust in Allah, and reliance upon Him. He is the One who says, Exalted is He:
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out (3) And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for himوَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا (2) وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَحْتَسِبُ وَمَنْ يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ
[At-Talaq 65:2-3]
And Allah takes care of us and you with His compassion and mercy. Ameen. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
