Supplication for the Parents

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of the fatwa number ( 7820 )
Q 2:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Is there anything left for me by which I can do good to my parents after their death? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, prayer for them, seeking forgiveness for them, and fulfilling their covenants.
This hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah , so how is the prayer for the parents as mentioned in the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

A 2: The meaning of prayer in this hadith is: supplication for forgiveness, mercy, entering Paradise, and safety from the Fire, and the like, as in the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He):
Take, [O, Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah 's blessings] upon themخُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِمْ بِهَا وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ
[At-Tawbah 9:103]
meaning: call upon Allah
Indeed, your prayer is a source of tranquility for themإِنَّ صَلاتَكَ سَكَنٌ لَهُمْ
the verse, meaning your supplication. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
