The second question of Fatwa No. ( 6461 )
Q 2:Is it obligatory for a woman to maintain family ties, and is she commanded, like men, to do what Allah has enjoined regarding this maintenance of ties? And the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to a man who asked about this matter, having been cut off by his relatives who did not maintain ties with him, whereupon he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:knowing that most of my relatives, specifically my parents' family, do not want me to speak with the women of the family about any matter of religion, because they consider it backwardness
because I am covered in my home and I wear the niqab and the jilbab, and I do not sit with men, and I do not mix with anyone, so they fear for them from that, knowing that most of them do not maintain ties with Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
A 2: Maintaining family ties is among the matters obligatory for both men and women; due to the generality of the evidence. This is done by visiting them, being kind to them, and extending a hand of help to them. And you should call them to good in the best manner, while clarifying the evidence for what you are calling them to. As for your wearing the niqab and not mixing with non-mahram men, this is the obligatory thing. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
