The first question of fatwa number ( 10943 )
Q1: I have a maternal grandmother, and she has become angry with us and boycotted my mother, preventing her from greeting her. She has also boycotted me and my entire family, but she has allowed me to visit her. However, my father swore that I should not go to her because of her bad treatment of us and of him. Her husband is also in a similar situation; she has boycotted him for a long time, with him in one place and she in another, and likewise some of the people. What should I do?
A1: Maintaining family ties is obligatory, and severing them is forbidden. Allah the Exalted said:[Muhammad 47:22-23] Therefore, you must visit your grandmother, and your father must pay the expiation for his oath, which is freeing a believing slave, or feeding ten poor people, or clothing them. If he is unable to do any of that, he must fast for three days. It is not permissible to respond to severance with severance; for al-Bukhari and others narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Sunan al-Bayhaqi 10:623 .
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

A1: Maintaining family ties is obligatory, and severing them is forbidden. Allah the Exalted said:
(22) So would you perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption on earth and sever your [ties of] relationship? (23) Those [who do so] are the ones that Allah has cursed, so He deafened them and blinded their vision.
The one who maintains ties is not the one who reciprocates, but the one who maintains ties when his kin sever them
ليس الواصل بالمكافئ ولكن الواصل من إذا قطعت رحمه وصلهاAnd success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
