The third question of Fatwa No. ( 20114 )
Q 3: He has a relative who, at times, curses children and insults them, and she is in a state of anger . What is the expiation for such an action?
A 3: It is not permissible for a believer to curse any of Allah’s creation, except for those whom Allah has cursed in His Book or whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has cursed. It is also not permissible to curse a specific living person, even if he is a disbeliever, according to the correct opinion of the scholars; because we do not know with what Allah will conclude his affair. And whoever curses something that does not deserve cursing, there is no expiation for him except sincere repentance from it, and the resolve not to return to such a bad action, and frequent remembrance of Allah, seeking forgiveness, and supplication before Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), and accustoming the tongue to good speech and good character in word and deed, and staying away from cursing and insulting. And this is what we advise this woman to do. Indeed, the complete believer is not one who curses, nor one who insults, nor one who is vulgar, nor one who is obscene. And what indicates this is what was narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas’ud who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1977Hasan (Darussalam) It was narrated by Imam Ahmad in (his Musnad) and al-Tirmidhi in (his Jami’),
and he said: A good, isolated hadith. And it has come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a severe prohibition against cursing and insulting, and a warning against it, and that the cursers will not be intercessors or witnesses on the Day of Resurrection. And what indicates this is what was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim in (their Sahihs) from Thabit ibn al-Dahhak al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Riyad as-Salihin 1551 . And what was narrated by Samurah ibn Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1976Da'if (Darussalam) It was narrated by Imam Ahmad in (his Musnad) and Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, and al-Tirmidhi said: A good, authentic hadith. And what was narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 2597a It was narrated by Imam Muslim in (his Sahih). And what was narrated by Abu al-Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 2598a It was narrated by Imam Muslim in (his Sahih) and Abu Dawud in (his Sunan). And what was narrated by Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 64a Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. And we have in the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a good example; for he was not one who cursed, nor one who insulted, nor one who was vulgar. Indeed, Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, saying: Sahih al-Bukhari 6031 It was narrated by al-Bukhari in (his Sahih), vol. 7, p. 81. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

The believer does not insult the honor of others, nor curse, nor commit Fahishah, nor is he foul.
ليس المؤمن بالطعان ولا اللعان ولا الفاحش ولا البذيءand he said: A good, isolated hadith. And it has come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a severe prohibition against cursing and insulting, and a warning against it, and that the cursers will not be intercessors or witnesses on the Day of Resurrection. He who swears by a religion other than that of Islam, is like what he has professed. He who kills himself with something, will be tormented with it on the Day of Resurrection. A person is not bound to fulfill a vow about something which he does not possess. Cursing a believer is like murdering him.
Do not curse yourselves with Allah's curse, nor with His anger, nor with the Fire.
It does not seem proper for a Siddiq that he should be an invoker of curse.
The invoker of curse would neither be intercessor nor witness on the Day of Resurrection.
Abusing a Muslim is an outrage and fighting against him is unbelief
The Prophet (ﷺ) was not one who would abuse (others) or say obscene words, or curse (others), and if he wanted to admonish anyone of us, he used to say: "What is wrong with him, his forehead be dusted!"
