He wants to give charity on behalf of his deceased wife
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 11069 )
Q: I married a woman, and she bore me two daughters (2). After five years of cohabitation, she requested a divorce, so I divorced her. Two years later, she passed away in the city of Riyadh due to cancer. The question is: If I give charity on her behalf, will the reward of the charity reach her? And if I make du'a for her, will it reach her? And if I do something for her that contains good, will it reach her or not?
A: If you give charity and intend it for your divorced wife, or if you make du'a for her, then that will reach her, if Allah wills. You are to be thanked for your kindness to her, and it also serves to please the hearts of her two daughters toward you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
