Depicting the jinn

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

Fatwa number ( 17773 )

Q: A picture has spread among the general public which they claim is a picture of a jinn in its true form. Is it possible for the jinn to be seen in their true form? And will you not warn people against circulating it, because it causes fear among people, especially children and women?
A: The jinn take on different forms, because Allah has given them the ability to do so, and some people may see them in those forms. However, it is not permissible to depict them, nor to depict any other living being, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited image-making and issued a severe warning against it, and he cursed the image-makers. This applies to every soul, whether jinn or otherwise. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
