Q: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. After that: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the Grand Mufti from the honorable judge of Bisha , in his letter No. (160) dated 19/1/1420 AH, accompanied by the inquiry submitted by Ibrahim Ali Muhammad, and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars. The inquirer asked about the attached flyer, the text of which is as follows: "There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. A girl, 16 years old, is very sick. The doctors were unable to cure her. On the Night of Decree, the girl cried intensely and slept. In her dream, Lady Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) came to her and gave her a drink of water. When she woke up from her sleep,
she found herself completely healed by the permission of Allah, and she found a piece of cloth written on it to spread this message and distribute it to 13 individuals. This message reached a naval commander, who distributed it and received a promotion within 13 days. It reached a merchant, who neglected it and lost all his wealth within 13 days. It reached a worker, who distributed it and received a promotion and all his problems were resolved within 13 days. I ask you, my Muslim brother, to spread it and distribute it to 13 individuals. Please do not neglect it.
A: After studying the inquiry, the Committee responded as follows: This paper that some people publish from time to time is an invalid flyer with no basis in truth. It is from the fabrications of liars and deceptions who want to divert Muslims from relying on their Lord, the Exalted, in bringing benefit and repelling harm, and to turn to other created beings, and to cling to illusions and superstitions for which Allah has not sent down any authority. It is obligatory for the Muslim not to be deceived by this false flyer and its like. It is incumbent upon everyone to warn against it and destroy it whenever they find it. Whoever writes it, distributes it, or assists in that is sinful and exposes himself to the punishment of Allah, both in this world and the Hereafter; because this flyer opens the door to shirk (associating partners with Allah) and bid'ah (religious innovation) in the religion of Allah the Exalted.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
