Fatwa No. ( 4156 )
Q: The content is: I live in an apartment, and my father lives in another. He works in an establishment that manufactures and sells tobacco and cigarettes. It happens that my father brings food and brings it to me, saying, "Take this food," and I eat from his wealth that he earns in the tobacco company where he works . Is this wealth forbidden, and is it forbidden for me to eat with him? Likewise, my children. I work in an aluminum company, and he has worked there for about 30 years. What is the method to remedy this matter?
A: What has passed, Allah forgives it for you, if Allah wills. As for the future, strive to eat lawfully from your earnings and the earnings of others. As for your father, strive to call him to good and urge him to earn from lawful sources, and treat him with kindness; perhaps Allah will guide him to the path of truth. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
