A Woman’s Work in the Field of Medicine

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 8863 )
Q 1: What is your opinion regarding a woman’s work in the field of medicine in general, and in the departments of women and obstetrics in particular ? Knowing that the working conditions compel the female doctor to speak and discuss with the doctors, and sometimes she is forced to be with a male doctor in the same clinic with only the nurse present for long hours, at the expense of the hospital’s system.
A 1: It is permissible for a woman to work in the field of medicine for women in general, whether in obstetrics or otherwise. She may discuss with the doctors whatever is needed for the benefit of the patients in their treatment, without submission in speech or weakness in conversation, and without seclusion with the doctor, or displaying adornment and exposing any part of the awrah (the part of the body that must be covered).
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
