Q: I have been afflicted with an illness that has disabled my organ from performing the act of marriage, so I am unable to do anything with my wife. This has been the case for about three years, and I enjoy all the pleasures a man has with his wife, but I suddenly found myself unable to connect with my family without any apparent cause of illness or the like. At that point, I consulted a doctor, and he asked me to bring him some semen. I am unable to ejaculate, and I do not know whether extracting semen by hand is permissible or forbidden. I ask you to inform me; may Allah reward you.
A: Masturbation by hand is forbidden; due to the generality of the statement of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Mu'minun 23:5-6] , and because of the harm it entails. The doctor can extract the semen from your testicles with a syringe, for example, and this provides you with a dispensation from masturbation by hand. If it cannot be extracted
except by masturbation by hand, according to the report of the specialized doctor, and this is established as a means of treatment, then it is permissible to extract it by masturbation by hand. You may also find other types of treatment, such as electric treatment, tonics, and the like. May Allah heal you and grant you well-being. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
