Q: A woman with a small child placed her in the shade of the tires of a parked car, and the owner of the car started it and ran over the child , and he was unaware of it, and the child died as a result. We ask your eminence to answer: What should the woman and the car owner do? May Allah reward you with good, and may Allah grant success
A: If the matter is as stated, it is obligatory for the car driver to pay the expiation and the blood money. The expiation is freeing a believing slave, and if he does not find one, it is obligatory for him to fast two consecutive months. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions
