Giving food for the poor, such as rice, dates, or the like

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 12575 )
Q1: Is it permissible to give food for the poor, such as rice, dates, or the like? How many people does one sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) suffice for? And is it permissible to give
money or not?

A1: It is permissible to give the expiation for an oath, the expiation for breaking a fast, the expiation for zihar, and the like, in the form of rice, dates, or the staple food of the country. One sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) suffices for two poor people, and it is not valid to pay the expiation for food in money, according to the correct opinion. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
