For a woman to travel for treatment outside her country

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 21542 )
Q: I have been suffering from diabetes for more than 15 years, and the diabetes has affected the retina of both eyes. I underwent a lens implantation surgery, and the retina was treated with laser. After this operation, blood accumulated in the vision, which led to nearly complete coverage of the sight. I have no treatment available except at the military hospital in Riyadh , according to
the attached report, and since I have been residing with my daughter in the city of Khamis Mushait for several years to continue my treatment, and my original residence is with my husband in Jibal Fufa , and my husband passed away (may Allah have mercy on him) on 9/6/1421 AH, and he is residing with me in my daughter’s house where I am staying, and I am currently in the waiting period (mourning) for my husband, and I want to travel to the military hospital in Riyadh for treatment, as there is no treatment for me in this area, and since I am suffering from diabetes and a blood clot, I fear the complications of the disease if I wait until the end of the waiting period. The question is: Is it permissible for me to travel to Riyadh for treatment and to undergo the operation while I am in the waiting period?

A: If the situation is as described, there is no harm in traveling for treatment, provided that the rulings of the waiting period after death are observed, such as avoiding adornment in clothing, jewelry, and the body, avoiding perfume, and avoiding being addressed for marriage or contracting a marriage, until the appointed time arrives. She should remain in the house to which she moves or the hospital where she is being treated until the waiting period ends. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
