Fatwa No. ( 18121 )
Q: What is the validity of the statement of the one who, when he wants to get married, says: "I want to complete half of my religion," meaning: marriage?
A: The Sunnah indicates the prescription of marriage, and that it is one of the sunnahs of the messengers. Through marriage, a person can, with the success of Allah the Exalted, overcome many of the impulses of evil, for marriage is a means of lowering the gaze and guarding the private parts, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained. Al-Hakim narrated in (Al-Mustadrak) from Anas , traced to the Prophet:Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 21:295, and Al-Bayhaqi narrated in (Al-Shu'ab) from Al-Raqashi with the wording: Mishkat al-Masabih 3096.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

من رزقه الله امرأة صالحة فقد أعانه على شطر دينه، فليتق الله في الشطر الباقيWhen a man marries he has fulfilled half of the religion; so let him fear God regarding the remaining half.
إذا تزوج العبد فقد كمل نصف الدين، فليتق الله في النصف الآخرAnd success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
