The sons of a brother are not mahram to their uncle’s wife
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 3577 )
Q: I have my husband’s brother’s sons, who are about 18 years old. They have been living with us from a young age until this day, and I see them as my own sons. Is it permissible for me to uncover my face
in front of them or not? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good and Paradise.
A: The fact that your husband’s brother’s sons lived in your house until they reached the age of eighteen does not serve as a reason to permit uncovering the hijab in front of them. Rather, it is obligatory for you to wear the hijab in front of them, in accordance with the evidence for the obligation of the hijab, and because they fall under those in front of whom the hijab is obligatory. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
