Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 17729 )
Q2: I have relatives, and I would like your Eminence to inform me about the degree of kinship and the mahram status, as well as regarding my children, who are as follows: 1 - My mother’s maternal aunt, who is my father’s sister, is she a mahram for me and my children, and is it permissible for us to travel with her to al-Madinah al-Munawwarah and Makkah al-Mukarramah or not? 2 - I have my mother’s maternal uncle, who is her father’s brother; is he a mahram for my daughters, and are the wives of the aforementioned person mahrams for me personally or not? 3 - Are his wives considered blood relatives or are they considered strangers?
A2: Your mother’s maternal aunt is a mahram for you, and it is permissible for you and your children to travel with her. Your mother’s maternal uncle is a mahram for your daughters. As for the wives of your mother’s maternal uncle, they are strangers to you, and you are not a mahram for them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
