The Wife’s Refusal to Allow Her Husband to Have Intercourse with Her
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 14594 )
Q4: A man complains that his wife has long been averse to the marital bed. He has three children from her, and the situation has worsened recently. When he approaches her, she tells him, “I am ill” or “I am tired,” and makes up continuous excuses. He is patient and constantly reminds her of her duties, despite the fact that she is a university graduate and a teacher. She demands a maid, and her requests are continuous. If he needs his wife and she does not agree, he ejaculates on his bed out of fear of committing zina. Is it permissible for him to marry a second wife or not? What is your advice? And what is the ruling on his ejaculation?
A4: Marrying a second wife is not forbidden or disliked. If a person finds that he has the financial and physical ability to marry a second wife, it is prescribed for him
to do so, provided he is just between them. He must advise his wife and remind her of Allah, the greatness of her husband’s right over her, and the obligation to obey him in what is good. He must also be gentle with her and investigate the causes of her aversion. He must also repent from masturbation. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
