Fatwa number ( 4852 )
Q: Thisa man who has been with his wife for 17 years, and there has been no dispute; most of the time they have the best of conduct. Since three years ago, and this is the fourth year, discord has crept in. She claims that it is not by her choice.and every year since this discord began, it increases, and this year it is the most severe. They tried to resolve it but found nothing, but he saw in a dream once that it seemed to him that he was parting from her. The second time, his husband was leaning against a wall, and she was next to a man he knows, as if he had married her. It seemed to him that he was objecting to her revealing this to him, meaning her husband. She was with this man in ordinary clothing, like a woman with her husband. Quickly, this man got up and left, and she was the same. What do you see in that? And Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.
A: He must strive to treat his wife with good conduct, and she must also strive to treat her husband with good conduct. They should appoint a mediator from among his relatives and her relatives who will advise them, admonish them, and reconcile their affairs, so that Allah may remove the discord between them. As for his dream the first time, where it seemed to him that he was parting from her, it has no effect on the marital relationship and is not considered a divorce. Likewise, what he saw in his dream the second time, that she revealed herself to a man as a woman reveals herself to her husband, is not to be relied upon; because the dreams of other than the prophets are not the basis for a ruling, nor is a crime established by them.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
