The eleventh question of Fatwa No. ( 2392 )
Q 11: A skilled Muslim doctor informed a woman that it is not permissible for her to become pregnant, because if she did, she would die during childbirth, and her husband has no other wife besides her. They are in the prime of their youth, and neither can do without the other. Is it permissible for that woman to use medication to prevent pregnancy, or should her husband practice coitus interruptus with her during intercourse?
A 11: First: There is evidence indicating the permissibility of coitus interruptus. Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:Sunan Ibn Majah 1927Sahih (Darussalam) It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim and Muslim Sahih Muslim 1440b
Second: Taking contraceptive pills and practicing coitus interruptus do not prevent what Allah has decreed to create among human beings. The basis for this is what Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:Mishkat al-Masabih 3185 It was narrated by Muslim and Ahmad and Abu Dawud and what Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) reported, saying: It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim
These two hadiths and those with similar meanings indicate the permissibility of coitus interruptus, and taking contraceptive pills is in the same category as coitus interruptus. Third: What this skilled Muslim doctor mentioned, that this woman would die during childbirth if she became pregnant, is incorrect; because knowledge of lifespans is part of the unseen, which Allah has exclusively reserved for Himself. Allah the Exalted said:[Luqman 31:34] And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

A 11: First: There is evidence indicating the permissibility of coitus interruptus. Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
We used to practice coitus interruptus during the time of the Messenger of Allah when the Qur'an was being revealed.
We used to practise 'azl during the life of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ).
Second: Taking contraceptive pills and practicing coitus interruptus do not prevent what Allah has decreed to create among human beings. The basis for this is what Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:
He told of a man who went to God's Messenger and said, “I have a slave-girl who is our servant and I have intercourse with her, but do not want her to conceive.” He replied, “Withdraw your penis from her if you wish, for what is decreed for her will come to her.”
We went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the expedition of Banu al-Mustaliq, and we captured some Arab women as captives. We longed for women, the hardship of being far from home was severe for us, and we desired to practice coitus interruptus. So we asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about it, and he said: "There is no harm in you not doing it, for Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has decreed what He will create until the Day of Resurrection"
These two hadiths and those with similar meanings indicate the permissibility of coitus interruptus, and taking contraceptive pills is in the same category as coitus interruptus. Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die
