Q: I have a wife, and she has a daughter from another man—that is, a foster daughter. The daughter got married and gave birth to a daughter. Is the daughter of my wife’s daughter—that is, the foster daughter—one of my mahram (forbidden relatives) or not?
A: The daughter of your wife’s daughter is a foster daughter to you, due to the generality of the statement of Allah the Exalted:[An-Nisa 4:23] . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
