It is not permissible to force a woman to marry, and the mahr is her right

Fatwa number ( 13648 )
Q: I inform your Eminence that I gave one of my daughters in marriage to my brother's son, and since, O honorable one, this engagement took place when they were young children, when my brother's son grew up and I wanted to give him my daughter whom I had engaged to him, my wife refused and tried to dissuade him, saying, "I want sixty thousand riyals (60,000) from your brother's son," whereas I had engaged her to my brother's son without any consideration. Please note that I do not want to take anything for my daughters, neither much nor little. Now, O honorable one, do I have the right to give my brother's son my daughter whom I engaged to him and force my wife to complete this engagement? And does she have the right to take any money? Or is it forbidden for her to take anything? I request your answer through the judge of the Mahani court; because I am determined on this engagement and on the marriage of the aforementioned brother's son. I ask for an answer to resolve this matter. May Allah guide you and reward you, for He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive.

A: It is not permissible for you to force your daughter to marry your brother's son, and the mahr is one of the daughter's rights. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
