The woman's hijab from a child who has not reached puberty
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 16101 )
Q: I have a brother who is ten years old and has not reached puberty, and he has no one to support him except me, and he lives with me in the house. My question is: when he reaches the age of puberty, how should things be handled, given that he will continue his studies and his stay with me will be long? How should I act? Do I allow him to enter my wife's presence in my absence, or what should I do? I have asked some shaykhs, and they issued a fatwa to me that if the matter is as I described, I should have him breastfed by my wife so that he becomes a mahram to her. However, my heart was not at ease with this fatwa. Now my wife has given birth, and I saw that I should write to your eminence about this matter, as I have become confused in
my affair, and I desire an answer from your eminence.
A: First: The breastfeeding that is considered valid is that which occurs within the first two years of the child's life, and breastfeeding after the two years has no standing in the Shari'ah. Second: It is obligatory for you to teach your brother the Islamic etiquettes and religious rulings, and to accustom him to asking for permission before puberty when entering the presence of your family. It is not permissible for your brother to be alone with your family in the house. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
