A man permitting his wife to greet his friends
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 6044 )
Q6: Is it permissible for a man to allow his wife to greet his friends when they visit him at his home, merely a greeting without sitting with them?
A6: It is not permissible for him to allow her to shake their hands if they are not mahram (relatives one may not marry) to her, and it is not permissible for her to shake the hands of non-mahram, even if her husband allows her to do so; because obedience is only in what is right, and shaking hands with non-mahram is forbidden. As for merely initiating the greeting to them, it is permissible if it is without submission in speech and coquetry in the greeting, while observing the hijab. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
