The Intention to Abandon Hajj
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6141 )
Q1: I went to perform Hajj as an individual on the night of the eighth of the month of Dhul-Hijjah
from Jeddah. I performed the arrival tawaf and sa'y, but I was forced to break off the tawaf due to the heavy crowd, and I went to spend the night in Mina . While I was in Mina on the afternoon of the eighth, and as a result of the intense heat and fatigue I suffered while searching for a place with shade, I felt pain and exhaustion, so I intended to abandon the Hajj because of that and return to my house in Jeddah . I headed to the Haram with the intention of abandoning the Hajj, but I did not remove my ihram. I arrived at the Haram and prayed the 'Asr prayer there on the eighth. After that, I felt better, so I resolved to return to Mina and complete the Hajj, and I was still in a state of ihram. Indeed, I returned and completed the remaining rites of Hajj. What is the ruling on the intention to abandon the Hajj and then returning to complete it?
A1: The intention to abandon the Hajj that occurred on your part has no effect on your Hajj; because you returned to the Hajj, and there is no expiation on you for that if you performed the tawaf for Hajj after returning from 'Arafah as the tawaf of ifadah, and completed the acts of Hajj. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
