The ruling on fasting the Day of 'Arafah for one who has days of qada' (making up missed fasts)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: Is it permissible to fast the Day of 'Arafah when one has days of qada' (making up missed fasts) from Ramadan?

Answer: The pilgrim does not fast on 'Arafah; it is obligatory for him to break his fast on the Day of 'Arafah. As for those who are not pilgrims, it is recommended (mustahabb) for them to fast, as it is a day of virtue. Fasting it expiates the year before it and the year after it, and it contains great good. However, pilgrims do not fast, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood at 'Arafah while breaking his fast and forbade fasting on that day. As for the non-pilgrim, there is nothing wrong with him fasting. But if he has fasts of qada' (making up missed fasts) to perform, he should start with the qada'. If he fasts the Day of 'Arafah as qada' and the nine days as qada', that is good.
