Fulfilling the price of the sold item or giving it in charity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 7846 )
Q: Eight years before this date, I went to Makkah al-Mukarramah to perform the obligatory Hajj. I had little knowledge at the time. After performing the Hajj, I took a Swiss ring and two small bottles of perfume from one of the sellers. The total value of these items at that time was 3 riyals, and I did not pay the seller their value. After a while, I feared punishment from Allah for this. I ask for a ruling on what I should do with these items so that I may be safe from punishment, especially since none of them exist now? And what will suffice for them? May Allah reward you with the best reward.
A: If the situation is as you described, you must return the three items to their owner. If you are unable to do so, give them in charity on his behalf. Then, if you happen to meet him in the future, inform him of what you did. If he is pleased, praise be to Allah; otherwise, give them to him, and the reward of the charity will be yours. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
