Seeking the owner of a debt to fulfill his right
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 19419 )
Q: A man dealt with one of the Christians, and after the transaction, some dinars remained with the man belonging to the Christian. This Christian disappeared, and the dinars remained with the man. The problem is that he does not know where this Christian lives or where he is? So inform us, may Allah preserve you, what should the man do with these dinars?
A: It is obligatory in such a situation to search for the owner of the right until he delivers his right to him. Since you do not know his place of work or his residence, you should give these dinars in charity with the intention of doing so on behalf of their owner. If he comes to you one day seeking his right, inform him of what you did. If he accepts it, otherwise, pay him his right,
and the reward of what you gave in charity will be for you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
