When is the newborn named

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 2392 )
Q3: Which day is best for naming the newborn; after his birth or on the seventh day of his birth? And is it permissible to celebrate it with loved ones, friends, and neighbors?
A3: As for the time of naming the newborn, there is leeway in it. If he names him on the day of his birth or on the seventh day, there is what indicates that. So, it was narrated
al-Bukhari and Muslim in the two Sahihs from the hadith of Sahl ibn Sa'd al-Sa'idi who said:
Mundhir b. Aba Usaid was brought to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) at the time of his birth Allah's. Apostle (ﷺ) placed him on his thigh and Abfi Usaid kept sitting there. Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) had been occupied with something else before him. Abu Usaid commanded his child to be lifted from the lap of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and so he was lifted. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had finished the work he said: Where is the child? Abd Usaid said: Allah's Messenger, we took him away. He said: What is his name? He said; Allah's Messenger, it is so and so, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Nay, his name is Mundhirأتي بالمنذر بن أسيد إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حين ولد، فوضعه النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم على فخذه، وأبو أسيد جالس فلهى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بشيء بين يديه، فأمر أبو أسيد بابنه فاحتمل من على فخذ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: أين الصبي؟ فقال أبو أسيد: قلبناه يا رسول الله، فقال: ما اسمه؟ قال: فلان، قال: لا؟ ولكن اسمه المنذر
Sahih Muslim 2149
, and in Sahih Muslim from the hadith of Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah , from Thabit from Anas who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A child was born into me this night and I named him after the name of my father Ibrihim.ولد لي الليلة غلام فسميته باسم أبي إبراهيم
Sahih Muslim 2315
, the hadith. And it was narrated by Ahmad and the people of the Sunan from Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A boy is in pledge for his Aqiqah, Sacrifice is made for him on the seventh day, his head is shaved and he is given name.كل غلام رهينة بعقيقته، تذبح عنه يوم سابعه، ويسمى فيه، ويحلق رأسه
Sunan Abi Dawud 2838Sahih (Al-Albani)
, al-Tirmidhi said: This is a good, authentic hadith. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
