Announcing the Birth of a Child in the Mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 16060 )
Q: Is it permissible to announce the birth of every child in the mosque so that the worshippers can make du'a for him? In other words, is it permissible for any Muslim to come to the mosque and announce the birth of any of his children in the mosque so that the Muslims can make du'a for him?
A: Announcing the birth of a child in the mosque in order for those present to make du'a for him is an action that is not permissible; because it is a religious innovation (bid'ah), based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
It was narrated by the Imam Muslim in (his Sahih), and it was not part of the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to announce the births of children in the mosques so that du'a would be made for them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
