Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 5693 )
Q: They inform you that there is a share called: (Rakib al-Furtan), which is a thorn farm, located in the village of ( al-Marmadah ) belonging to the lands of Rabi'ah, and Rafidah in 'Asir, and this share was inherited from our people, and in it there is a sheep that is slaughtered on the middle of the month of Sha'ban, and we have been doing this for a long time, and finally we sought the opinion of many scholars, among them Shaykh Ali al-Tantawi, and he issued a fatwa to us that it is not permissible; so we left it for two years without slaughtering, and the fatwa was oral, the people of the village filed a claim against us that it is an endowment and is slaughtered in the middle of Sha'ban. I ask you to issue a fatwa to us with what you see as appropriate and satisfies the conscience, since the claims are still ongoing between me and the people
of the village, and may Allah guide you to what is good.

A: It is permissible to slaughter the sheep from the produce of the endowment at any time of the year, especially in the preferred days; such as Ramadan and the month of Muharram, and it is not permissible to restrict it to the middle of Sha'ban. As for the principal of the endowment, the matter is referred to the court where the endowment is located. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
