The fourth question of the fatwa number ( 9864 )
Q4: A person deposited his money with me and died suddenly, and I do not know his family or any heir of his. What should I do with his money?
A4: If you do not find an heir for the deceased depositor after searching, inquiring, and investigating, give the money in charity to the poor on behalf of the deceased. Then, if an heir appears later, inform him of what you did. If he is satisfied, that is fine; otherwise, pay him an amount in lieu of it, and the reward will be yours.
