Announcing the death of the deceased
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 4276 )
Q2: Is it permissible to announce the death of someone who dies in the village on a board placed in the mosque, specifically for this purpose? Knowing that there are people who perform the washing and shrouding of the deceased, whereas the funeral prayer is performed for us after the midday or afternoon prayer in the mosque.
A2: First: Announcing the death of the deceased in a manner resembling the eulogy that is prohibited is not permissible. However, informing his relatives and acquaintances so that they may attend the funeral prayer and the burial is permissible, and it is not of the prohibited eulogy; for when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of the death of the Negus in Abyssinia, he informed the Muslims of his death and prayed over him. Second: It is not befitting to install a board in the mosque for announcing deaths and the like, for the mosques were not built for this. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
