Q5: If a man prays Friday with his family in his house — meaning his own house — and delivers the sermon to them, claiming that he has performed the Friday prayer at home, is his prayer valid?
A5: If a man prays Friday with his family in his house, they must repeat it as the Zuhr prayer, and their Friday prayer is not valid; because it is obligatory for men to pray Friday with their Muslim brothers in the houses of Allah the Exalted. As for women, Friday prayer is not obligatory upon them, and it is obligatory for them to pray Zuhr. However, if they attend it with the men in the mosque, it is valid for them and suffices for the Zuhr prayer. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
