The purified person who doubts whether a state of ritual impurity has occurred

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of fatwa number ( 8732 )
Q1: Does the doubt of one who has performed ablution regarding a state of ritual impurity from urine, feces, or passing wind have any effect, given that the lack of certainty is due to the long duration of the state of purity? Or is it that since the original state is purity, one does not pay attention to the doubt unless one is certain of the state of ritual impurity, and likewise the reverse?
Vol. 1: All praise is due to Allah alone, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions. As for the one who is in a state of ritual purity and then doubts whether he has broken it, his doubt has no effect on his previous state of purity. And as for the one who is in a state of ritual impurity and then doubts whether he has purified himself or not, he remains in a state of ritual impurity, and this doubt has no effect; because certainty is not removed by doubt; because the original state remains as it was until it is proven that something has removed it.
This is based on the hadith: It was reported to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about a man who thought he felt something during the prayer, and he said:
He should not return (from prayer) unless he hears a sound or perceives a smell (of passing wind).لا ينصرف حتى يسمع صوتًا أو يجد ريحًا
Sahih Muslim 361
It was narrated by the group except for al-Tirmidhi, and the hadith:
If any of you has a pain in his abdomen, but is doubtful whether or not anything has issued from him, he should not leave the mosque unless he hears a sound or perceives a smell.إذا وجد أحدكم في بطنه شيئًا فأشكل عليه أخرج منه شيء أم لا؟ فلا يخرجن من المسجد حتى يسمع صوتًا أو يجد ريحًا
Mishkat al-Masabih 306
It was narrated by Muslim and al-Tirmidhi. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
