The Shaykh : And it is also important, especially regarding daughters, for a person to monitor how his daughter goes to school. Some daughters are found asking their mother for the best and most beautiful clothes, and whenever a new fashion appears, she says to her mother, "Buy it for me," so that she may compete with her classmates. This is a mistake, a great mistake. I used to think that the system of the presidency was the unification of clothing. If this is their system, it is obligatory to adhere to it, and it is not permissible for a person to exceed it. This is because when the rulers order something that does not involve disobedience to Allah and His Messenger, it is obligatory for the community to follow it, as Allah the Exalted said: [An-Nisa 4:59].
It is also important to look at who takes his daughter or sister to school. It is necessary that when a woman rides with a driver, there must be with them either a woman or a mahram. It is not permissible for the driver to be alone with the woman, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):. And what do you think of two people when Satan is the third among them? Some people are negligent in this matter; they are greatly negligent in this matter. I have even heard that some of them ride their young daughter with a driver who is not her mahram, and then when they approach the school gate, she gets down and goes in, as if she had not come alone with the driver: [An-Nisa 4:108] They fear people but they do not fear Allah! The danger of this is great; do not take it lightly. Do not say, "We are safe." Do not say, "This man who is not among her mahrams is a trustworthy man." Two people with Satan as the third have no safety between them. Therefore, I see that if there is someone who transports girls or female teachers, a woman should never ride with him alone, because this is a forbidden seclusion. However, there is no harm if two women ride together. If he says, "Every woman is in her house, how can two women ride?" we say: Praise be to Allah, if the two women live in nearby houses, one comes to the other and they ride with the driver as two. This is if there is no woman among the driver’s mahrams with him. If there is a woman among his mahrams with him, that is sufficient.
I ask Allah the Exalted to make this year a year of good and guidance, and of guidance and rectification, for fathers and mothers, and for sons and daughters. Indeed, He is capable of all things.
