The Ruling on Female Students Riding with the School Driver

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz! At the beginning of this session, we return to the letter of our sister (Dr. M. 'A.) from al-Qassim al-'Ayn. Our sister raised five questions in a previous session, and here we are returning to the rest of her questions in this session. She says in her question: People have gone too far and become lax in sending their daughters with transport drivers to schools outside their town, without a mahram, and no one sees anything wrong with it. It would be best if you, men of religion and people of knowledge, addressed this problem. May Allah reward you for it and for the Muslims with the best reward, and make what you say heard by attentive ears and receptive hearts?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows:
It is established in the Sunnah from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the prohibition of a woman traveling without a mahram. If the travel of female students to schools reaches the level of legal travel, it is forbidden for the girl to go except with a mahram. However, as long as it is within the bounds of the town and its outskirts, and what is not considered travel, then there is no harm in her going in transport vehicles with the girls to the schools. There is no harm in that, as long as it is within the bounds of the town and its outskirts. All of this is without harm and is not called travel. He is not allowed to be alone with any one of them; rather, they should all be together. There should be a group with them, a group with him, transporting them to the schools. All of this is without harm.
And if there is seclusion with one of them, it is forbidden for him to do so. Rather, he should strive to drop off the last one only when there are two or more present, so that there is no seclusion with any of them. The driver should observe this, unless his wife, his mother, his sister, or the like is with him, in which case there is no seclusion, even if the rest is just one. Yes.
