Warning Against Forgetting the Qur'an
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 5168 ):
Q6: A man memorized five parts of the Qur'an, but due to the multitude of his work and occupations, he did not review what he had memorized for a very long time until he forgot what he had memorized. What is his ruling? Does he sin for that? And are there any hadiths that threaten and warn those like him?
A6: He should be advised and encouraged so that he may return to learning the entire Qur'an, reciting it, reflecting upon it, and acting upon it. He should also be warned against the bad outcome of being preoccupied with worldly matters to the neglect of his religious affairs. As for the hadith that contains a warning for one who memorizes the Qur'an and then forgets it, it is a weak hadith. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
