Supplication and seeking aid from al-Khidr (peace be upon him)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q6: Is al-Khidr (peace be upon him) a guardian in rivers and deserts, and does he help everyone who gets lost if they call out to him?
A6 : The correct opinion among scholars is that al-Khidr (peace be upon him) died before Allah sent His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him); based on His saying, the Exalted:[Al-Anbya 21:34] And even if he remained alive until he met our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the Sunnah indicates that he died a limited time after the death of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), as he (peace and blessings be upon him) specified in what is authentically reported from him: , and in this case, his status is that of the dead: he does not hear the call of anyone who calls him, does not respond to anyone who supplicates to him, and does not guide anyone who is lost if they seek his guidance. And even if he is alive to this day, he is absent, and his status is that of other absent people: it is not permissible to supplicate to him or seek his aid in times of hardship or ease.
A6 : The correct opinion among scholars is that al-Khidr (peace be upon him) died before Allah sent His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him); based on His saying, the Exalted:
And We did not grant to any man before you eternity [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal?
وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ الْخُلْدَ أَفَإِنْ مِتَّ فَهُمُ الْخَالِدُونَDo you see this night of yours? Indeed, at the head of a hundred years, no one who is on the face of the earth today will remain.
أرأيتكم ليلتكم هذه فإنه على رأس مائة سنة لا يبقى على وجه الأرض ممن هو عليها اليوم أحد
