Disbelief of one who utters the phrase "shoe upon the religion"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

Fatwa number ( 7549 ):

Q: What do you say about a man who testifies that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and who prays and fulfills the obligatory acts of Islam, except that when he is angry or arguing with someone, he says certain words that I am ashamed to mention or utter, except in cases like this where it is necessary to mention them so that we may be clear about the matter. These words are: "The shoe upon your Lord's religion..." and similar phrases. Does one who utters these words become a disbeliever? Does it obligate him to perform the major ritual bath? Does it nullify his deeds? We ask for a detailed explanation of this issue.
We must be clear about the matter, and these words are: "The shoe is upon the religion of your Lord..." and phrases like this. Does one who utters these words become a disbeliever? Does it obligate him to perform the major ritual bath? Does it nullify his deeds? We ask for elaboration on this issue.

A: The phrase you mentioned, "The shoe upon your Lord's religion," is a statement that takes one out of Islam. He should be advised and guided with wisdom and good exhortation, and he should be argued with in the best manner, so that perhaps Allah will guide him and he will not say such things in the future. He should also be advised to repent for what has passed, for if repentance is accepted, Allah forgives the sins committed by its owner. Allah the Exalted said:
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لاَ تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
[Az-Zumar 39:53]
The scholars are in agreement that this verse is regarding those who repent. And Allah the Exalted said:
But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِمَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى
[Taha 20:82]
. The evidence from the Qur'an and the Sunnah regarding the prescription of repentance is abundant. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
