Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 2961 ):
Q3: What is the ruling in Islam regarding hanging pictures on walls or the walls of houses?
Vol. 3: Depicting beings with souls is forbidden, and hanging them on the walls of houses is forbidden; because of the authentic hadiths established regarding this, which indicate their prohibition and the prohibition of making them. Among these is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
the most grievously tormented people on the Day of Resurrection would be the painters of picturesأشد الناس عذابًا يوم القيامة المصورون
Sahih Muslim 2109a
agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim, and his saying to 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him):
Spare no portrait unwiped out, and leave not a high grave unlevelled.لا تدع صورة إلاَّ طمستها، ولا قبرًا مشرفًا إلاَّ سويته
Riyad as-Salihin 1687
narrated by Muslim . And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
