Naming the Qur'an a Scientific System
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 4488 ):
Q4: He delivered an excellent sermon for which he is to be thanked. Its aim was the woman: what is hers and what is upon her, her legal limits, and her rights. It was very stirring. During the sermon, he said: (and it is the first scientific system) Is the Qur'an a system or a Shari'ah?
A4:
The Qur'an should be called by the names Allah gave it in His Book, such as Shari'ah, a path, a reminder, and an admonition. As for calling it a "system," that has not come in the Book or the Sunnah, to the best of our knowledge, even though it contains the organization of the affairs of Muslims in their religion and their worldly lives. However, restricting oneself to the names by which Allah named it and by which His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) named it is more appropriate and safer. It is not the first system, as the aforementioned imam said; rather, before it there were heavenly books in which Allah clarified what the people to whom they were revealed needed, such as the Torah and the Gospel. The Qur'an is the most noble, the greatest, and the most perfect of them. And Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said regarding it:[An-Nahl 16:89]
And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.
وَنَـزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ تِبْيَانًا لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً وَبُشْرَى لِلْمُسْلِمِينَAnd success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
