Fatwa number ( 9550 ):
Q: A man was reciting the Qur'an and making mistakes in it, and another man was praying beside him, so he corrected him while he was in the tashahhud. Is there any sin on the reciter? And is the prayer of the one who corrected him valid? Please give us a ruling on this with convincing evidence.
A: First: If the reciter is a beginner in memorizing the Qur'an and is working on correcting his recitation, there is no sin on him; rather, he has a reward; for the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih Muslim 798a narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim. Second: The praying man who corrected the reciter — who was not his imam — and pointed out his mistake to him is a wrongdoer who is excused in his correction due to his ignorance, and his prayer is valid. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

One who is proficient in the Qur'an is associated with the noble, upright, recording angels; and he who falters in it, and finds it difficult for him, will have two rewards.
