The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6618 ):
Q1: One of the brothers, who lives in the desert, has come to us with a question. Here is its text: He says: I live in a house in the desert that I inherited from my forefathers and ancestors. Recently, and specifically on the 2nd of Ramadan, a disaster occurred in it. He says: From that night on, I have been pelted with stones from inside the house and from
outside it, and the light is turned off without my seeing who is doing it. My vessels are broken and I am tormented without my seeing who is doing this to me. I endured this for 4 days while suffering from this calamity, so I went to my tribe hoping they would point me to something. I told them this tragic news, but they replied to me by saying: There are people who are your enemies, and they are doing this ugly deed to you. They went with me, and when night came and it got dark, they witnessed what I had told them and believed me in what I had said. After all this, my family insisted on me leaving this dwelling and abandoning it. Question: How do you interpret this disaster and calamity? Then what is its cure, and what is the ruling of the Shari'ah in that?
A1: These may be a group of the jinn Shayatins who have encroached upon you and tormented you, either to make you leave the house or simply to torment and play with you. It may also be that they are taking revenge on you for harming them in a way you do not know. In any case, seek refuge in Allah, and protect yourself by reciting the Book of Allah in the house and reading Ayat al-Kursi when you lie down in your bed for sleep or rest. Seek refuge in Allah from the evil of what He has created, and say:As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 64:1035
And say whenever you enter the house:Sunan Abi Dawud 5096Da'if (Al-Albani) , and say every morning and evening (three times): Sunan Ibn Majah 3869 . In summary, maintain the recitation of the Qur'an in the house and elsewhere, and the Prophetic dhikr established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so remember Allah with them at their times, night and day, in the house and elsewhere. You will find them in the book [Al-Kalim al-Tayyib] by Ibn Taymiyyah , the book [Al-Wabil al-Sayyib] by Ibn al-Qayyim , the book [Al-Adhkar] by al-Nawawi , and other books of hadith. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

O Allah! I ask Thee for good both when entering and when going out; in the name of Allah we have entered, and in the name of Allah we have gone out, and in Allah our Lord do we trust.
